Duo Catalina: Music Among the Pines

Join Arizona Philharmonic for an evening of chamber music at the Highlands Center for Natural History’s Kiwanis Amphitheater. Arizona Philharmonic principal flutists Jeannette Hirasawa Moore and Andrea Redcay Graves present a program that explores the remarkable versatility of the flute through music spanning more than three centuries.

From Telemann, Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven, and Debussy to selections from Les Misérables, Miss Saigon, The Hobbit, Astor Piazzolla, and the Beatles, the program blends classical masterworks with familiar favorites. Along the way, you’ll hear both the traditional concert flute and the warm, expressive alto flute, discovering the rich variety of colors within the flute family.

Performed entirely without amplification, this intimate outdoor concert lets you experience the natural sound of the instruments in one of Prescott’s most beautiful settings. The Kiwanis Amphitheater’s exceptional acoustics and forest surroundings create a uniquely close connection between performers, audience, and nature.

DUO CATALINA
Flute collaborators Jeannette Hirasawa Moore and Andrea Redcay Graves formed Duo Catalina to present two flute, flute and alto flute, and flute and piano works to a wide variety of audiences throughout northern and central Arizona. They were recently featured at the Scottsdale Musical Instrument Museum special exhibit “The Magical Flute” representing the Sedona Symphony. Moore and Graves have also performed at the Prescott Highland Center and Mountain Artists Guild representing the Arizona Philharmonic, the Flagstaff Max Jerrell Community Concert Series and the a Winslow Correctional Facility Arts Capacity concerts representing the Flagstaff Symphony. Duo Catalina also enjoys playing for senior residences, weddings, and corporate events.
