A Virtuoso Christmas

December 6, 2026 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

A Virtuoso Christmas

Four voices and seven musicians bring Christmas down to chamber scale: flute, oboe, timpani, piano and strings, in beautiful arrangements written for this ensemble by Prescott Valley native Mat Lanning.

One of Johann Sebastian Bach’s many Christmas cantatas, Süßer Trost, mein Jesus kömmt, anchors the program, sung by four voices with flute, oboe, strings and piano. Around it come favorites including O Holy Night, Carol of the Bells, In the Bleak Midwinter, and Silent Night, along with George Frideric Handel’s Hallelujah and excerpts from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker.

Violinist Katherine McLin and pianist Andrew Campbell join AZ Phil’s musicians for this Christmas concert at Ruth Street Theater in Prescott.
