Violin virtuoso Katherine McLin and Maestro Peter Bay open Arizona Philharmonic’s seventh season, featuring a vibrant blend of music that spans the contemporary to the classical. The concert begins with Gwyneth Walker’s Fanfare, Interlude and Finale, a firmly American work of beauty, reflection, and boldness. It sets the stage for Mendelssohn’s celebrated Violin Concerto in E Minor, Op. 64, with McLin showcasing the work’s emotional depth and brilliance. Arthur Honegger’s Pastorale d’été offers a tranquil moment, with its depiction of a peaceful summer day in the Swiss Alps. The evening concludes with Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 92 in G Major, “Oxford,” heralded for its joyous sophistication. Join Arizona Philharmonic on this journey through these evocative landscapes of music.
