Step into a spring concert where fire, light, and renewal unfold through three distinct musical voices. Double Steinway Artist James D’León returns with his audience-favorite ensemble to open the program with Jennifer Higdon’s Piano Trio, a vibrant study in musical color with movements titled Pale Yellow and Fiery Red. Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Sonata for Cello and Piano, born of personal and creative renewal, blends sweeping lyricism with powerful interplay in a deeply emotional journey. Felix Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio in C Minor closes the program with stormy passion, fleet-footed energy, and a radiant final chorale. Together, these works ignite a journey through color, intensity, and transformation—echoing the creative surge and awakening energy that define spring.
Jennifer Higdon represents a modern American voice in this program honoring America 250.
