Together\, Duo Catalina offers the clarity and color of two flutes\, including the fuller sound of flute and alto flute\, in a relaxed chamber-music setting. DESCRIPTION:Arizona Philharmonic timpanist Maria Flurry leads an interactive OLLI class at Yavapai College Prescott Campus exploring the instruments used in manos Percussion’s May 23 concert at the Highlands Center. Participants will hear and learn about steel pan\, gongs\, glockenspiel\, duck call\, water\, and other instruments that help create the trio’s mix of classical and world sounds. OLLI\, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Yavapai College\, offers learning\, social\, and teaching opportunities for adults 50 and older. The class is free\, with registration requested.

Part of the trio’s Quarter Millennium Celebration tour\, this program marks America’s 250th year through European classical roots\, Afro-Caribbean rhythms\, nature sounds\, jazz\, and contemporary voices. With 37 instruments on stage\, including water percussion\, steel pan\, gongs\, glockenspiel\, and other unexpected sounds\, manos creates a program shaped by precision\, curiosity\, and the wide range of traditions woven through the American story.
